CORN DEVELOPMENT FUND TURNS OVER SOIL TEST KITS AND MOTORCYCLES TO CORN FARMERS’ COOPERATIVES.

Regional Director Mario M. Gonzales (5th from left) and Asst. Regional Director Leslie A. Martinez (6th from left) of the National Food Authority Region 02 lead the turnover of a Mobile Soil Test Clinic to officers and members of Kabisig Savings and Agri-Development Cooperative during the signing of  a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and turnover ceremony held at the NFA Regional Office in Santiago City last January 10. The Mobile Soil Test Clinic project aims to provide soil testing services to marginal corn farmers especially in far-flung areas, to help them increase production through precise fertilization, and make corn farming profitable.  The motorcycle and soil test kits are components of the Mobile Soil Test Clinic to reach remote areas.  Four (4) motorcycles with soil test kits and seven moisture meters were awarded to various corn farmer cooperatives in Region 2. A total of 10 mobile soil test clinic and 50 digital moisture meters will be granted to qualified corn farmer cooperatives nationwide.
