Update on the Construction of the NFA C.O. Building

              The long-awaited National Food Authority Central Office Building shall finally be constructed at an allocated area of approximately 3,044 square meters from a total of 9,000 square meters of the NFA-owned lot located along Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. Once finished, the NFA Central Office will be a medium-rise building with approximately nine floors erected on a maximum vertical floor area of 15,868 square meters. Aside from the various departments and offices, the building will house an auditorium, conference and meeting rooms, executive lounge, a commercial space, etc.

              Designs of the building were submitted to the Technical Research and Services Department (TRSD). Other details of the construction are yet to be finalized or confirmed with TRSD Director John Robert Hermano who chairs the construction project.

              Phase I – Conduct of Bidding for the provision of consulting services for the preparation of architectural and engineering design including Construction Supervision Management (CSM) was already done.

            Submission of request for expression of interest and eligibility documents was held last June 9, 2016. Two consulting companies passed the Eligibility documents/requirements. They were evaluated based on the criteria set by NFA for shortlisting and the two firms both garnered 100 points. The Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC) recommended both of them to the Officer-in-Charge as shortlisted consultants. June 15, 2016 was the pre-bid conference. The two consultants submitted their bid offer last June 28, 2016 and are now being evaluated by the SBAC/TWG using quality cost based (QCBE) procedure. TWG’s evaluation report was forwarded to the SBAC chairperson for further evaluation and study.

               A meeting will be scheduled for the negotiation of the highest rated bidder. (Tess Galvez, correspondent)
