The NFA-Nueva Ecija Family welcomed their new Provincial Manager, Genoveva V. Villar, in a simple turn-over ceremony on June 20, 2016 at the NFA- Staffhouse in Cabanatuan City. Mgr. Genie is not new to her place of assignment; she rose from the ranks before becoming its Asst. Provincial Manager in her 38 years of government service. She was promoted on October 28, 2014 as Office-In-Charge and later as Provincial Manager of NFA-Baler.
Assistant Regional Director and Concurrent Provincial Manager of Nueva Ecija, Felimon T. Cangrejo, transferred the key of responsibility/symbolic key to Mgr. Villar.
In her message, PM Villar requested the cooperation of all employees to work hand-in-hand to achieve the goal of the agency and to bring back the pride and glory of the province. She said, “ sama-sama tayo na ibangon at ibalik ang Nueva Ecija na dating isa sa mga tinitingalang probinsiya sa Region III. National Food Authority's very own, Manager Adelaida C. Nuestro of Bataan Provincial Office, joined nine other honorees of the prestigious Dangal Balangueño award during Awards Night ceremonies held April 20, 2016 at Plaza Mayor de Balanga. Her contribution to the empowerment of women and active participation in civic works merited the recognition given.
Dangal Balangueño is an annual event as part of the Pistang Balangueño celebration of the City of Balanga. The award is given to Balangueños who have excelled, not just in their fields of expertise, but in humanitarian works as well.
Manager Nuestro's years of service to the Catholic Church – first as an organist for the St. Joseph Cathedral Choir, then as an active local and national officer of the Mother Butler Mission Guilds – and her volunteer work for the Philippine Red Cross, did not escape the eye of the Office of the Strategy Management (OSM), which is the assessment arm of the Balanga City Planning & Development Office (CPDO) that spearheaded the search and selection of awardees.

Today, the National Food Authority is vested the functions of ensuring the food security of the country and the stability of supply and price of the staple grain-rice. It performs these functions through various activities and strategies, which include procurement of paddy from individual bonafide farmers and their organizations, buffer stocking, processing activities, dispersal of paddy and milled rice to strategic locations and distribution of the staple grain to various marketing outlets at appropriate times of the year.
