National Food Authority's very own, Manager Adelaida C. Nuestro of Bataan Provincial Office, joined nine other honorees of the prestigious Dangal Balangueño award during Awards Night ceremonies held April 20, 2016 at Plaza Mayor de Balanga. Her contribution to the empowerment of women and active participation in civic works merited the recognition given.

Dangal Balangueño is an annual event as part of the Pistang Balangueño celebration of the City of Balanga. The award is given to Balangueños who have excelled, not just in their fields of expertise, but in humanitarian works as well.

Manager Nuestro's years of service to the Catholic Church – first as an organist for the St. Joseph Cathedral Choir, then as an active local and national officer of the Mother Butler Mission Guilds – and her volunteer work for the Philippine Red Cross, did not escape the eye of the Office of the Strategy Management (OSM), which is the assessment arm of the Balanga City Planning & Development Office (CPDO) that spearheaded the search and selection of awardees.

PM Nuestro was accompanied by husband Architect Virgilio Nuestro and some personnel of NFA-Bataan during the event. (Coco Reyes, Acting Information Officer)
