NFA-Oriental Mindoro hosted a two-day Region IV Accountants’ Conference held on April 21-22, 2016 at the provincial office. Manager Apolinario J. Buerano warmly welcomed all the provincial accountants and staff from the Regional Office.
During his talk, Regional Director Piolito C. Santos made an analysis of the organization through its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT). He said that the strengths of NFA are (1) its mandate – food security and price stabilization, (2) its resources, and (3) its hardworking and technically competent employees. On the other hand, he said that its internal weaknesses are (1) huge corporate debt, (2) financial losses, and (3) buy high, sell low policy. He added that the external opportunities are (1) pending re-organization, and (2) ASEAN Integration while its threats are (1) abolition of NFA, and (2) change of its mandate. With all the adversaries NFA is facing, he believed that the food agency will be able to surpass the challenges and will remain as a responsive organization if everyone will cooperate and will work hard to protect its mandate. In conclusion, he advised the participants to be the best that they can be.
Among those discussed were topics related to operational activities. Issues and concerns of the Provincial Accountants were clarified during the open forum.
Regional Accountant Rosie M. Igno was hopeful that all the learning they gained in the two-day conference will be very helpful in the disposition of their functions in their respective areas. (Evelyn M. Marquez, Acting Information Officer)
