Rice Distributed to Drought Victims

                 A total of 2,500 bags NFA rice were distributed to 5,000 families who were adversely affected by the El Niño Phenomenon in the municipality of Talakag, Bukidnon on June 16, 2016  .

                The rice is part of the 53,000 bags NFA rice procured by the provincial government  of Bukidnon  under its Mitigation Program  being implemented by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction  Division under the stewardship of Governor Jose Ma. R. Zubiri, Jr.


                 As early as February of this year, Governor Zubiri has coordinated with NFA Regional Director Gil Pepito B. Paqueo to discuss measures and actions in addressing  the possible adverse effects of the forecasted El Niño phenomenon,  to the constituents of Bukidnon especially the farmers.

                The 53,000 bags NFA rice will benefit a total of 106,000 families in all the municipalities of Bukidnon as calamity assistance to drought stricken farmers. Each family beneficiary receives 25 kilograms of NFA rice. (Ma. Celeste Gaabucayan, Regional Information Officer)

NFA rice rebagged into 25 kgs being loaded  into trucks  to serve the requirements  of the  Municipalities of Malitbog, Talakag, Baungon, Libona and Manolo Fortich.
