Discussed in the meeting was the need to forge a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the NFA and the Provincial Office on credit rice sales during calamities for relief assistance to affected families. Governor Cadiao was very thankful for the continuous partnership between the Provincial Government and the NFA for the delivery of public service to the Antiqueños. Jumagbas.
In line with the National Disaster Consciousness Month, the NFA Iloilo Regional and Provincial Offices had an orientation/lecture and actual fire drill conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region VI on July 19, 2016. Around 60 employees actively participated in the drill.

BRIEFING ON RA 9184 NFA-Antique Administrative Officer Gladdys A. Gallano (standing, above photo) briefs the employees on the salient features of RA 9184 also known as the Government Procurement Reform Act held recently. The briefing was spearheaded by the Provincial Procurement Committee (below photo L-R) composed of Supply Officer II Diana Joy S. Josue, Administrative Officer III Gladdys A. Gallano and PSQAO Eligio D. Asturias. The committee discussed the Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 9184 particularly on Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) and Alternative Methods of Procurement especially on procurement of goods and services. NFA-Antique Officer-In-Charge Oliver L. Cambas assured the Antiqueños that the food agency has sufficient stocks in its warehouses for the lean months starting July to September.
In an interview with DYKA, OIC Cambas said that as of June 9, 2016, NFA’s buffer stock is good to last for 14 days, while household and commercial stocks are good to last for 52 and 9 days, respectively. Total industry inventory for the province of Antique is 75 days.

Gallano (standing, right photo) who discussed the Distance Learning Program on the Rules of Conduct and Ethical Behavior in the Civil Service designed by the Civil Service Commission in modular form for all public servants held at the provincial office on June 22, 2016. She emphasized the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees in the government particularly on the eight norms of conduct for government employees. Today, the National Food Authority is vested the functions of ensuring the food security of the country and the stability of supply and price of the staple grain-rice. It performs these functions through various activities and strategies, which include procurement of paddy from individual bonafide farmers and their organizations, buffer stocking, processing activities, dispersal of paddy and milled rice to strategic locations and distribution of the staple grain to various marketing outlets at appropriate times of the year.
