In line with the National Disaster Consciousness Month, the NFA Iloilo Regional and Provincial Offices had an orientation/lecture and actual fire drill conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region VI on July 19, 2016. Around 60 employees actively participated in the drill.
FO1 Jessieca Hum (upper right photo) lectured and demonstrated the TPASS (Twist the pin, Pull the pin, Aim the nozzle, Squeeze the lever and Sweep side to side) procedure in using the Fire Extinguisher. The employees were grouped into various fire brigade committees such as Communication, Medical, Search and Rescue, Security and Traffic, and Fire Fighting Teams.
During the drill, the evacuation of the participants was done within 5 minutes and declared total fire out within 10 minutes.
In the post evaluation, the participants got a satisfactory rating despite being first-timers.
In closing FO1 Hum emphasized “Safety first of lives over security of properties.” (Emmylyn W. Chavoso, correspondent)
